Atari V.I.P. 'a...f'

ALCORN, ALLAN (a.k.a. ALCORN, AL)

Al Alcorn was Atari's first engineer (employee #3). In 1972 he, together with Nolan Bushnell, invented the Coin-op version of Pong. He also programmed 'Space Race' (Coin-op, 1973, Atari) and 'Got'cha' (Coin-op, 1974, Atari). 'Cosmos', Atari's experiment with holographics was created by Alcorn, as well. This battery-operated game system, that was introduced at a New York press conference in 1980, never saw the light of day.


BRENNAN, MARTIN

Co-developer of the Atari Jaguar.


BUSHNELL, NOLAN KAY

The founder - employee #0 (founder).


CARTWRIGHT, STEVE

Programmer of games like 'Seaquest', 'Barnstorming', 'Frostbite', 'Megamania' and 'Plaque Attack'.


CRANE, DAVID

Programmer of games like 'Pitfall' and 'Pitfall 2: Lost Caverns'.


DABNEY, TED

Co-founder of Atari (together with his friend, Nolan Bushnell). Dabney is, together with Nolan Bushnell, employee #0 (founder).


DECUIR, JOE

One of the chip designers for the Atari (VCS) 2600, Atari 800 and later the Amiga 1000 by Commodore. He also programmed 'Video Olympics' for the Atari 'VCS' in 1977.


DEFRISCO, STEVE

Programmer of games for the 2600, e.g. 'Secret Quest', 'MotoRodeo' and 'Klax' (unreleased prototype).


DUNN, JOHN

Programmed 'Superman' for the Atari '2600'.
He's now responsible for software development at 'Algorithmic Arts'.


ENGLISH, ED

At 'Parker Brothers' Ed English developed 'Frogger', a port from the coin-op based game for the Atari 2600, one of the best selling Atari games of all time, selling over 4 million units.
Ed English currently is founder and Chief Executive Officer of 'InterMute' (a part of 'Trend Micro'), a leading developer of Internet security and content filtering solutions.


FRYE, TOD

Programmed the totally messed-up Atari '2600' conversion from the famous coin-op 'Pac Man'.


FULOP, ROB

Co-Founder of 'Imagic'. Rob Fulop programmed games like 'Night Driver' and 'Missile Command' (both for Atari) and 'Cosmic Arc' as well as 'Demon Attack' and 'Fathom' (for 'Imagic').
